Forest Dance

+2

This dance incorporates movements from Brain Gym’s®, as well as positions which promote complete integration of the primitive reflexes. Furthermore, it activates the children’s imagination while improving their ability to differentiate between sounds, identify rhythms and embody expression.

The activity consists of several distinct steps:

The children will be encouraged to drink water in order to increase alertness and stimulate the nervous system. Hydration is known to promote concentration and improve circulation, so drinking helps to prepare them for learning new concepts.

To encourage full participation in the activity, we ask the kids to lightly tap their chest. This allows them to release any tension by integrating the Fear Paralysis and Moro reflexes, while also helping them to become more focused.

Next we ask them to open their arms wide and look at their surroundings. This helps to put them at ease in their environment and reduce any feelings of insecurity. At the same time, we are integrating the Moro reflex as well as Symetrical ans Assymmetrical tonic neck reflexes.

A dance which requires crossing the midline with the arms and legs and synchronizing movements with music follows. Very young children who are not yet capable of crossing their legs can just move their legs freely.

In the final step, the kids relax by placing one hand on their forehead and the other on the back of their head. We encourage them to close their eyes and remain silent and still. This posture promotes a feeling of calm by reassuring them and channelling their energy.
