Week 3

One Drop

+3

The children learn to recreate the sound of raindrops with their hands. They also explore the numbers 1 to 4 with their fingers.

They sing together as they count: one drop, two, three, and four drops. By synchronizing the movements of their fingers with the sound of the drops, they experience different note values: half notes, quarter notes and eighth notes . They also tap several different rhythmic figures.

The repetitive nature of the song facilitates memorization of the song lyrics.

This activity helps the children to develop dexterity, rhythm, and hand-eye coordination.

Tip: Younger children can use their whole hand rather than their fingers to make the sound of the raindrops. This will facilitate the movement and make the activity more accessible to them.
