Week 6

Forest Dance

+2

This activity prioritizes having fun while learning. The movements performed help to reduce stress while improving concentration in young children. It also challenges their memory to learn the sequence as a dance routine.

This activity helps to develop their auditory awareness (paring certain movements with specific parts of the music) while integrating primitive reflexes.

Variations of the week:

To help them feel alert, they stand with their feet together and tap themselves lightly on the chest while pronouncing a short U. This phoneme resonates at the root chakra and is associated with feelings of respect and self-confidence.

As the dance becomes more active, the children cross their legs and then jump into and out of their hoop while synchronizing their movements with the music. Very young children who are not yet capable of crossing their legs can just move their legs freely.

Prop: flat hoop
