We refer to the cycle of seasons to help explain the musical concepts of pitch and tone. In the musical scale, the notes climb higher just like the leaves in Spring. The notes stay up high like leaves on the trees during summer, and then fall back down like leaves do in the autumn. Finally, the notes stay down low like leaves buried under the snow in the wintertime.

This activity introduces phrasing while focusing on balance, coordination, and bodily expression.
