Halloween
This activity allows children to embody several different characters often encountered on Halloween. They imitate the gestures of each one by performing rhythmic movements synchronized to spoken phonemes such as SH, YAY, OUI, NON, HI, HA etc.
The children are encouraged to move intuitively to take on the roll of a witch, a zombie, a pirate, a ninja, a knight, and Spiderman etc. The movements we suggest for each character help them explore note durations (whole notes, half notes, and quarter notes).
While sharing in their excitement about Halloween, we are also stimulating their imagination, coordination, language acquistion, attention, and memory.
